Skin Care A History

Acne Light Treatment

Face Exercises? Your thinking really!!

The answer to your questions are "but of course". Exercise is good for your entire body. Why would you skip your face?

I watched a TV show years ago. They were doing face exercises. Very smart. You work out the rest of your body to become more tone and fit. The show also talked about your neck. You may look silly doing these but give them a try in the car while your driving. What else do you have to do? NOT talk or text on your phone right!!!! Didn't think so!

Do as the Greeks used to do, I still do, I put some Olive Oil in my hair. A couple drops on the palm of your hand, rub together and smooth over fly aways and ends for a great shine. It's the next best thing if your out of Moroccan Oil.

Skin care is important so don't forget that when your taking care of the rest of your body!

Happy Spring :)

Tweens and Teens Self Esteem?

Watching the multiple morning shows this morning one jumped out with a guest author of "Operation Beautiful".

The author stated that young girls actually start dieting at age (8) eight. Bulimia, anorexia and many other eating disorders are effecting children at younger and younger ages in today's world.

I have noticed that my "Tween" has become concerned about what she eats. She has even stated at one point that she is a vegetarian! My remark: "where did you get that from?" I corrected her right away and told her I am not going to make separate dinners because at the age of eight you have decided that you are a vegetarian.

We then had the conversation that she is beautiful, there is nothing wrong with the way she looks what so ever. Oh, and the fact that if she is a vegetarian she cannot eat all the wonderful fun things for dessert or some of her favorite foods. She frowned and started to think about it.

We eat very healthy and get lots of exercise. The kids swim on the swim team year round, ride bikes, play golf, tennis and play outside. The fridge in our home is mostly organic or as close to the farm as we can get. I have even planted a huge herb garden that actually started out as a small one but the herbs have even taken over the yard! Hubby has an issue with mowing the grass around it.

So back to my Tween. She does read labels, which is a good thing I think. She is learning what is good for you and what is not. And, that it is okay to eat certain things in moderation. Yes, she eats full fat ranch dressing on her salad.... but a very small amount. She is eating a salad loaded with tons of her favorite veggie toppings. Sometimes she doesn't even use dressing.

I will be reading up on this growing issue and will be posting more information to help bring awareness to you Mother's out there going through the Tween and Teen years!

Life and the Lee Op Art Wedge from Coach!

Sitting here posting and watching the snow falling outside accumulate to oh what this time maybe eight inches or so. I was surfing and shopping and found these amazing little beauties.

The Lee op art wedge by Coach. Bringing back memories of the Dr. Scholl's that I had that were very similar but were not as comfy as these look like they would be.

Yes I am dreaming of spring and how great these will be on my pedicured painted toes. I do love the snow however and it is amazingly beautiful right now and so silent and peaceful. Until the snow plows arrive, motors running, blades scraping the drive way almost shaking the house when it comes slamming down!

Soon enough the snow will melt and Spring will arrive. The kids will have grown a couple of inches and the clothing I bought on "sale" last year for this year will of course be too small because they grew more than I had accounted for.

I know we wish for things to happen quickly, we wish for the season's to get her sooner, but take in the time you are in now and find the beauty in it. You can never get it back once it's gone. The kids will not be little for long when you look back you will miss this precious moment time and wish it back ;)

Great Quotes: No Time For Drama

Reading a blog today Suzanne from

Says:

I have no regrets, no disappointments, and NO DRAMA, I have no time for that!. People who create drama just aren't happy in their own lives and feel the need to tamper with the happiness of others.

Tween and Teen Beauty Tips

Growing up is exciting. It also means that the older we get the more we have to do to take care of our mind and bodies.

Eating healthy, getting our daily amounts of fruits and vegetables are so very important. If you start young it only gets easier to stay on the right track as you get older.

Dark green vegetables are the most important. Broccoli, spinach (yes Popeye's spinach), cucumbers and kayle. Try some mixed baby greens or herb mix salads the next time you stop by the school buffet or salad bar at your favorite lunch place.

Eating right and taking good care of your skin go hand in hand. Find a good facial cleanser that is very important! Also learn how to cleanse your face the right way. I use Oil of Olay line of products and my Grandmother did too! Find a line you like and is right for you. Everyones skin is different. What your BFF may be using might not be right for you.

Dove Cleansing Products is another great company that carries gentle products. Check them all out, see what works for you.

Make eating healthy and taking care of you skin part of your daily life. You only have one!

Happy Winter ;)

Piano Lessons With Yokewong, Keep The Arts In Our Children's Lives

Music is such an important part of our lives especially to children. It is important for children to play, listen and even sing music. Being exposed to the arts during their adolescence years is such an important part of growth.

With most activities being cut from school's these days we need to find classes and activities and instruction after school which is not an easy task. Band is still (for now) in most schools. So we as parents need to find alternatives like piano lessons, singing even theater classes elsewhere.

I took piano lessons when I was around seven years old. I can say that I can still play the piano to this day! I may not remember all the notes but I can still belt out chopsticks, batman and others with a couple minutes practice. Yes and I can still read music also.

Keep your kids involved in the Arts and help keep the Arts in our schools, it is so important.

Happy Winter ;)

Not surprising that piano lessons are available even online these days. Fancy electric keyboards have replaced the old standard Baldwin or Reed & Sons wood and ivory elephants we learned on about thirty five years ago.

Prevent H1N1 Flu - Good Advice

Prevent H1N1 Flu - Good Advice

Dr. Vinay Goyal is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist) having clinical experience of over 20 years. He has worked in institutions like Hinduja Hospital, Bombay Hospital, Saifee Hospital,Tata Memorial etc. Presently, he is heading our Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W).

The following message given by him, I feel makes a lot of sense and is important for all to know

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

3. *
Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water . *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good
Yogaasanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*

Neti pots and sinus rinse kits are available at the drug store and relatively inexpensiveĆ¢€¦.under $15.

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (
Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

I suggest you pass this on to your entire e-list. You never know who might pay attention to it -- and
STAY ALIVE because of it.

To Do Or Not To Do The Littlebluepill!

Men have had all the help in the Romance department for along time now. There is help out there for Women in that department now also.

I first heard about it while watching an episode of Sex In The City in the first or second season quiet a few years ago. Kim Cattral's character Samantha Jones took the littlebluepill, except it was the Men's version that she took in the show. I laughed so hard watching that episode. They actually have a littlebluepill for Women, it's Famale Viagra.

I'm not sure if this was out when Samantha took it or not. But it is apparently out now and available for all who is in need. You would just have to decide whether to do or not to do the little plue pill.

Venicon the littlebluepill for Women says that it can help put the spark back in your romance.

It you try it (available with no prescription) why not write us and let us know. Share the experience with other Women in the world who may be needing some help in the romance department. Please write us!

Happy Fall!

Diet Sodas Causes Weight Gain?

Drinking diet sodas may actually cause you to gain weight instead of losing it.

The Dr's TV show said that the artificial sweeteners can trick your body into confusion.  It knows you just drank a can of soda because of the sweeteners and it all of a sudden asks itself "well where is it?".  Then your body rebounds to fill that void.

But they didn't say to go back to regular Soda's either.  One can a soda a day is 140 calories and can attribute to an additional 15lbs on your body in one year.

They say that drinking the diet soda becomes a habit.  So a healthier replacement for the diet soda is tea!  Japanese Green Tea is a wonderful choice.  It's healthy and is a great antioxidant, which is said to help flush all the bad toxins from your body.

How do you break that habit?  Look at it this way; when you do something 20 times, it becomes a habit.  It may take a bit longer to break that habit :)

Thank You For Visiting!
