Oprah To Retire From Talk Show Next Year!

Announced today Oprah Winfrey will retire from her famous talk show next year. She has said with teary eyes today that this will be her last year and has started the count down.

Oprah a staple in many many women and men's afternoon lives for what some twenty five years. Oprah has touched many lives and helped to many people even starting a girls school in Africa. Giving to the needy through her Angle network, publishing a magazine and her world famous "Oprah's favorite things list".

Anything she has touched seem to turn to gold for the person lucky enough to get their items on her show.

She will be missed but I think she will not be gone. My guess is that she is up to something else that will make everyone happy ;)

God Bless you Oprah Winfrey!!!

Top Must Have Shoe's In Your Wardrobe Daniblack

Rachel Zoe a celeb stylist has a little list. On this list were the must have shoes you need in your wardrobe (closet, let's get real here). Of course she wears the "high" heel that I could NEVER walk in but she looks oh so great!

All women need a great pair of black pumps. Comfy, stylish, well made and for a great price point! A great pair of black pumps will take you far and go with anything from day into night.

Another must is women's sandals like theses Daniblack sandals in black zebra print. Great with a skirt, shorts and Capri's.

A great pair of flats is third. Something comfortable for you. If your like me you need to try on a ton to get the right pair. But once you shop around you will find your favorite brand.

Booties like these grey sued beauties by Daniblack sandals.

I LOVE THESE!

A great little bootie you can wear with anything. Pants, skirts and shorts. This style shown made by Danilback has the right cut in the front lower on the ankle to flatter any leg and thin out and lengthen your leg. Well made and oh so gorgeous and stylish to boot ;)

The one staple every women needs are a great pair of boots. Pick a heel that works for you. Black is neutral and brown I would say is next in line, you can wear one or the other at any given time.

For well made shoes, boots and women's sandals at a great price check out Danilback

Jimmy Choo now at H&M Stores!

How exciting JIMMY CHOO is now at H&M stores! And at a very reasonable price point also! For around a hundred dollars you can pick up a pair and not have to spend an arm and a leg!

We LOVE this!

With today's economy I am glad to see that some designers are realizing that not everyone can spend like they used to and probably will not go back to spending the way they once did before.

Spotted recently at the Jimmy Choo launch party for H&M many celebrities arrived to show their support for the show designer and store. Lisa Rinna, Harry Hamlin, Gabrielle Reece, Tamara Mellon and Margareta van den Bosch, Paris and Nicky Hilton to name a few.

Dalla Diva's and Daughters is it a joke?

I just watched an episode of Dallas Diva's and Daughters. It makes me wonder why the kids these days are so messed up.

Five Dallas Mom's and their spoiled rotten Daughters star in the reality show. One Mom and Daughter duo are the out casts. The girls are friends but the Mothers are not. Another duo the Mom looks like a clown, single and trying to land a rich man. The rest of the cast are just unbelievable.

Two Daughters throw their Mom's a Birthday party to be able to have a later crewfew and take a trip to Cabo. Spending over $40,000.00.

In the meantime another Daughter is mean to her Mom and yells at her to purchase her a new Landrover which she says on camera that this is what she does to get her way and it works! So her Mother has her go to work with her as her Stylist Assistant. After just one day the Daughter says she has more than earned the Landrover :(

I have decided that I am going to delete the TIVO on this program. I have a Daughter and I would never want to end up like them no matter how much money was involved. Can someone send them a reality check please!

Prevent H1N1 Flu - Good Advice

Prevent H1N1 Flu - Good Advice

Dr. Vinay Goyal is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist) having clinical experience of over 20 years. He has worked in institutions like Hinduja Hospital, Bombay Hospital, Saifee Hospital,Tata Memorial etc. Presently, he is heading our Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W).

The following message given by him, I feel makes a lot of sense and is important for all to know

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

3. *
Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water . *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good
Yogaasanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*

Neti pots and sinus rinse kits are available at the drug store and relatively inexpensive….under $15.

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (
Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

I suggest you pass this on to your entire e-list. You never know who might pay attention to it -- and
STAY ALIVE because of it.

Cute Halloween Sugar Cookies

My neighbor Afaf left my family a very nice surprise yesterday, these adorable homemade Halloween sugar cookies.

Afaf and her Mother bake cookies all the time, I don't mean just some but from the looks of her posts they make tray fulls and they are always very adorable!

Here we have little white ghosts, orange pumpkins and the oh so scary black cat with little green whiskers. These just make you want to run out and get the supplies to start baking ;)

Thank you Afaf!

Hot New Finds: Starbuck's Ceramic Travel Mug

I have found the greatest item ever! Starbuck's has a ceramic travel mug! No not stainless or plastic but ceramic! I am so thrilled I just can't stand it ;)

I have never liked the taste of coffee in stainless or plastic cups, I have to have it in a ceramic cup or it just does not taste the same.

So I usually put my morning coffee in a regular old coffee cup and off I go. Maneuvering through bumps and traffic trying to hold the cup up so it doesn't spill coffee all over me or my car.

But not anymore. The other day I forgot my coffee and had some errands to run after dropping the kids off to school. I popped into Starbuck's to get just a regular Joe and waiting in line there gleaming on the shelf was their ceramic travel mug with a snap on leak proof lid! Like I said I was so excited.

It keeps the coffee very hot and I did burn my tongue so I have to be careful. It is double walled so the hot liquids stay hot but it's cool to the touch which is an added bonus. So very proud of my new mug!! I have been getting funny looks because of the mug, people aren't sure if Starbucks changed their carry out cups or what ;)

Happy Fall!

Military Denim Jacket Revisited

Denim jackets have always and will always be a in fashion one way or another.

Jackets from the past are new again. "What is old is now new". Think before you toss. Well maybe the 80's can go. But then again you never know. The Rachel Zoe Project just did a photo shoot for "V" and the theme was the 80's Olivia Newton John's "Let's Get Physical" look.

While shopping I came across this denim military jacket in black with black polished buttons on the front lapels. Very cute, fitted in the front and back, very flattering.

My Husband says he has one somewhere.... I wonder where and what I could do with it!! Hummmm...... need to go look ;)

All sorts of styles are in just don't wear denim from head to toe - yuck! One piece at a time. Think of it as an accessory don't overdue it.

Pair this up with a skirt, leggings and boots. Have fun.

Happy Fall Shopping!

Fall Fashion Totes and Bags

Fall is here once again, the perfect time for new Totes and Bags. This little felt like black and white plaid bag with the adorable pink accent is so cute and can go anywhere. You always need a little "pink" on.

We fell in love with the "peace" tote in fun colors. My Daughter can take it to school or to the pool to keep her towel and suit. Or to the supermarket.

This denim version of the "peace" tote is great for the trip to Border's and is roomy enough to carry the load of books you purchased home. Again with some "pink" accents again.

Okay if your not into pink maybe you will love this red bag. Red and white plaid with silver accents and draw string tie. I love this!! Make sure when you wear red keep it to a minimum like one piece. Don't over due it. Either a red bag, shoes, belt or belt NOT all of the above ;)

Happy Fall!

To Do Or Not To Do The Littlebluepill!

Men have had all the help in the Romance department for along time now. There is help out there for Women in that department now also.

I first heard about it while watching an episode of Sex In The City in the first or second season quiet a few years ago. Kim Cattral's character Samantha Jones took the littlebluepill, except it was the Men's version that she took in the show. I laughed so hard watching that episode. They actually have a littlebluepill for Women, it's Famale Viagra.

I'm not sure if this was out when Samantha took it or not. But it is apparently out now and available for all who is in need. You would just have to decide whether to do or not to do the little plue pill.

Venicon the littlebluepill for Women says that it can help put the spark back in your romance.

It you try it (available with no prescription) why not write us and let us know. Share the experience with other Women in the world who may be needing some help in the romance department. Please write us!

Keep Those Old Sweater Cardigans!

Sweater coats and cardigans are in for Fall. This is a perfect piece for your wardrobe during the transition from Summer to the brisk Fall weather.

Long knit belted cardigans and the shorter versions like this one are oh so cute with a pair of skinny jeans and boots.

The Sweater coats made of a much heavier knit are warm and comfy and can be worn any time day or night. There is such a large selection this year I don't know where to start. Old Navy to Nordstroms, Marshall's and TJ Max. They are everywhere.

I actually have two old long sweater cardigans that I have updated by just removing the knit belt that they came with and added a wide leather belt around the waist. You can also run out to Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics and grab some great new large wooden buttons that are in and switch out the old ones for a new updated look!

So "In with the old and In with the new!" Not "out with the old and in with the new!".

Happy Fall!

Tween Fall Fashion Looks - Chicago

Shopping in Chicago in early fall is not only fun but exciting!

We went on a recent trip to attend the Chicago Food and Wine Festival. All the streets have been decorated for Fall. Pumpkins, Corn Stalks, Scarecrows and bails of hay and straw.

Each little planter has been decorated by someone different to you have several different looks.

My kids loved shopping at the Lego and American Girl Store. Having lunch and dinner at some wonderful restaurants.

Chloe' is wearing her Lilly Pulitzer green top, jean capri's with her pink scarf a must have for Fall. She also has her multi colored poncho and her new Hello Kitty Purse from the Hello Kitty Store.

She was very excited to find it and she also bought an adorable little Hello Kitty Wallet.

Jack just likes to pose for the camera! Such a little ham. This was his first trip with out the stroller and did a grand job at keeping up.

We love shopping and hanging out in Chicago and cannot wait to go back when all the Holiday lights are up. Yes, it will be cold but makes the Holiday Season don't you think?

Happy Fall!

Money Saving Tips: Insurance Shopping With American Car Quotes

Here is a heads up for a site that will take all the work out of finding car insurance for you.

If you are a Student or are a parent who has a Student driver American Car Quotes can assist you with providing you valuable information on obtaining and saving on insurance for that new driver or one that is heading out on their own for the first time. As you may already know there is a bit of sticker shock on the price of insurance for new drivers. Why not check out ways to save in today's economy

Rachel Zoe Project - Love it ;)

I love The Rachel Zoe Project TV Show found on Bravo!

Stylist to the Stars Rachel Zoe has the reality cameras following her through out her hectic days dressing Stars like Demi Moore, Liv Tyler and Anne Hathaway.

Finding them Emmy, Oscar and party dresses, filling their wardrobe for them because they are too busy to shop for themselves.

I have heard and read numerous rag magazines bashing her party ways and her anorexic weight issues as well as her rants and hissy fits. The show addresses all of these and to my surprise she doesn't at all come across that way.

Rachel has made a name brand for herself and works very, very hard to promote her business and her name. Unlike the Paris Hilton's who are just famous for absolutely no reason other than having rich parents!!!

If you love fashion hit Bravo and check out the show. You can see behind the scenes at photo shoots, fashion shows and parties.

Love it!

Parties, Weddings, Trade Show Tips

Having a wedding soon? Do you entertain quite often? Do you own your own business and need to get involved with trade shows to promote your business?

Think about purchasing your own linens for parties and events. Sure you can rent but here is a tip; purchase your own and save money.

I don't know how often I throw parties and have rented or purchased and tossed plastic table skirts and table covers. It starts to add up after a while. You can purchase chair covers, linens, table skirts, clothes, napkins in any color to keep on hand for entertaining.

I keep a few basic colors on hand, white, yellow and green. Great for any party theme and you can decorate quick and easily especially if your in a rush. And they can be attached easily with plastic skirting clips now available, no need for tacks or staples!

If you have a business, Yoga Studio, Salon, any retail business keep this in mind. When doing trade shows your trade show booths trade show booths sell your business. First impressions are important so it better be good.

table skirts, banner stands, dramatic draping with Pipe and Drape displays are a must. It helps you display your products and services in a more professional and appealing way.

If your having a party or event and need dramatic draping to enhance a room or to control your crowd Pipe and Drape displays can make your event more beautiful.

These days you can get Cloth's, Linen's, Skirts in any color from Black, White, Red, Orange, Pink any color under the rainbow.

American Girl Store Downtown Chicago

We just visited Downtown Chicago this last weekend. You cannot go to Chicago if you have a little girl with out visiting the American Girl Store!

This is the new store in downtown Chicago that opened late last year.

I am impressed! It is so much nicer than the old store. Bigger, with more room to get around.

There are tons and tons of displays around the store so your little girl can see the dolls and outfits. The displays show the dolls with the outfits on that are available either on shelves under the doll or to the side for easy shopping.

The new store has a little "shopping mall" type atmosphere with crafts, hair salon, Dr. Office, shows, snack shop and the famous dinning room.

My Daughter's new find this trip was the poster display!

Chloe's at the snack shop with her new poster.

The cute little snack shop has treats for your gal and her doll in doll size. Chloe' choose the white chocolate dipped marshmallow's with pink sugar swirls, her doll "Julie" got one too!
We had such a wonderful time spending Mommy and Daughter time together. Couldn't go to a better place. It is very cute and to see all the little girls walking around downtown Chicago with their dolls in there arms.

Later that evening we went to dinner and the doll was a welcomed guest too!

Enjoy!

Fall Fashion Colors 2009

Fall 2009
New fun colors for Fall Fashion

Purple, Brown, Mustard and Green pops of color to brighten up the fall season. Layer tanks and jeans with a extra long cardigan in the bright splashy colors.

Wide belts and boots, boots, boots.

Purple is great for work and works well into the evening.

Pair it up with silver pumps and your off.

So get off the couch from the orange, rust, brown and black and put some pop into this falls wardrobe. Oh, and don't forget the manicure! Deep purple's and blacks are still in for fall.

Have fun! Mix it up a bit ;)

Auto Repair, Oil Change, Tune Ups and Maintenance all online!

Ladies here is an interesting site you may want to check out.

We all have to drive a automobile and will for most of our lives. Along with driving that auto you will need to maintain and repair it. This site RepairPal I have found helps you out with all the automotive issues you may have. If you have kids that are driving or soon will be driving this is also helpful resource to keep on hand.

Repairpal founded in 2007 by a group of people who were tired of spending too much money to fix and maintain their vehicles. This site provides all the needed and helpful information you need to maintain and or repair your vehicle. If it's a oil change or a tune up they will even locate the best local shop for you!

The site even offers online records maintenance and will send you email reminders when service is due! I need all the help I can get in that remembering department ;)

Repairpal will find you the best shop and show you several locations in your immediate area. For example if you live in Seattle, look under Seattle auto repair to find shop locations near you.

Click here to view Seattle auto repair

If you are going to purchase a new vehicle be prepared before you go to the dealership. The Salesperson will not be able to pull one over on you if your prepared. You can look up common questions, answers, problems and ratings on vehicles like the Acura TL example below:

I think the thing I like the best is the online encyclopedia. It has everything you need to know about your automobile. If it's a oil change or a tune up all you have to do is look it up and they will give you a definition, what it means, what to do, when to do it and how.

This is a great website to keep on hand to use anytime for women, men, college students, single gals and new teenage drivers!

Enjoy!

Ellen DeGeneres Show Lawsuit?

The Ellen Show is tangled in a lawsuit! Apparently the music the shows plays on the hit talk show as she dances has copy rights and the show didn't get permission to play them on TV.

Okay who messed this on up?

The New York Times reported that 1,000 songs were violated. 1,000 songs! That's a huge mistake on some ones part don't you think?

I don't think this isn't going to look good for Ellen being as she is also now going to be the new Judge on the American Idol show. She will be taking Paula Abdoul's place next year. A ton of fans are already upset with that one saying that Ellen doesn't have a clue when it comes to music or being a judge for the show. She will have very large shoes to fill.

I will keep you posted ;)

New CD's by Furtado, Boosie, Braxton and Cudi

Dan Brown's Lost Symbol out tomorrow!

Dan Brown has a new thriller making it's debut Tuesday the 15th.

Dan Brown known for the "The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons witch spawn off into movies has done it again. Let's see if the Lost Symbol is as good or better than the first two.

Both Characters are back Dr. Katherine Solomon and Robert Langdon and the new chase includes the secrets of Freemasonry that's set in Washington.

I think I will go stand in line and grab a copy! We loved the first two.

Happy End of Summer!
