Proof That Tanning Beds Are Harmful!

Finally, they have proved that tanning beds are "like smoking for the skin"! For the longest time allot of people thought that the tanning beds were safer than lying out under the sun itself. NOT!

Dr. Doris Day (Dermatologist) said that people are using them starting under the age of 30 which is even worse. Using tanning beds along with using birth control pills also increase the risk of getting skin cancers.

There is no health benefits here.

Category 1 Cancer Risks:
  1. Tanning Beds
  2. Smoking
  3. Hepatitis B
UVA and UVB rays are both dangerous. Along with the pill increases your risk, and most of the tanning bed users are young.

You can try to repair skin damage by:
  1. Use Topical Retinoid's
  2. Exfoliate
  3. Moisturize
Wearing sunscreen everyday is so important! And, don't forget to reapply!

Have a happy and safe Summer!

My Tween Growing Up!

I woke up this morning to a smiling little face staring at me. My Daughter "C". Such a pretty little face to wake up to. She made me smile as I asked why she was up so early. She didn't stay long running downstairs to bug her brother whom was also already up and watching cartoons.

As the morning went on, their breakfast out of the way we all started our day. Of course I am the one cleaning up from our morning routines. "C" is sitting at the dining room table on her computer pulling music video's starring Taylor Swift and now "Gummy Bear". The volume turned up quiet high I may add for my morning ears. I'm relieved to see that she still loves the cartoons also!

Where is the coffee? It looks like rain! We will be working on our Summer school projects and homework. Yes, "C" has Summer homework! Did we when we were young? I don't remember.

Happy Summer ;)

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince Movie Review

The new Harry Potter movie "Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince" was released this last weekend. Here are some reviews from all over the country. I will be adding more as they come in ;)
  • Fun.....My teen group was disappointed from all the missing parts of the book.
  • Well I didn't see it but Domonique did, she says that it was pretty good. But, she didn't like how they left some details out of the movie that was in the book. That made the movie confusing. Shelby from Michigan
  • Thankfully most of the "snogging" was still deemed "gross". Otherwise it was a good one! We had a "Potterpoloza" weekend - we also went to the Harry Potter exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry ... which was great!
  • I really enjoyed it. I didn't read any of the Harry Potter books and I've seen all of the movies but this is the only one I have truly really liked. Half Blood Prince had it's really funny moments and it's serious ones that were important to the story line. A lot of my friends loved it as well. I would recommend it :) Callie from Florida
  • It was great! It's my favorite of all the movies, now.

First of all, they got all of my favorite moments from the book, and they did them very well. I especially loved Draco and Harry's duel in the bathroom, the scene in the Cave, and the scene near the end at the top of the Astronomy Tower. Those were to three scenes I was hoping they would do well, and they were as close to perfection as I could ask for!

Everyone's acting skills really seemed to improve this time around. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like Micheal Gambon, who played Dumbledore, this time around. I haven't like him much in the past few movies because I didn't think he was doing Dumbledore justice, but this time he hit the mark. I also loved Alan Rickman (Snape) in every scene he was in, but that may be because Snape's my favorite character. He was perfect, too!

They changed a few things from the book, but considering all the information they DID put in, I can ignore that. It was excellent!
    Emily from FL

Michael Jackson's Pepsi Commercial

This morning on the news they announced that they are posting Michael Jackson's Pepsi commercial the one where he gets burned. Why? They of course played it and you can see him catching on fire and he obviously wasn't aware of what was happening to him.

The news went on to say that the burns he received caused him to become addicted to pain killers. We will never know what caused him to become addicted to pain medication. He lived a life that very few of us could or even would live.

He has passed on now. Let him rest in "peace", it is what he has always sang about. Bless his beautiful children and let them get through the loss of their Father in "peace" as any parent would have wanted.

We have lost a great entertainer that many of us has grown up with through the years. The fans as well as his Family will miss him dearly.

R.I.P. Michael.

Lunch at Martha's

Working up an appetite we stopped at Martha's Cafe in Sutton's Bay for lunch.

Martha's has a wonderful menu everything from breakfast to dinner European style. Eggs several ways with quirky names like "The Rooster", soups, sandwiches, salad's and more.

I had the Turkey Reuben Panini, my Mother In Law had a wonderful Tarragon Chicken Salad over mixed baby greens with a fresh baked scone like roll. She ordered the 1/2 size which my guess is from it's size that the full order would easily feed two people. My Son had a cup of the Homemade Vegetable Beef Soup and my Husband had the Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella Panini. Everything is made fresh daily. We were all very pleased and satisfied with our meal.

They have a wonderful little wine bar and cocktails for cocktail hour.

You know the place is good when the smell is wonderful when you walk in the door :)

Happy Summer!
