The Hills Is Clearly The Best Reality Show On TV
This was written by guest blogger Sammy Renolds
I love Tuesday nights. Do you know why? If you watch the same show that I do, then you might. I’m referring to The Hills. At first, I thought I would hate it. The only reason I watched it was because my wife talked me into it. She had watched the other reality show when they were all in high school. This is another reason I felt I wouldn’t like it – I wasn’t familiar with the characters. But, I will say that it is very entertaining. And what people underestimate is the quality of the music during the show. It’s very trendy and fitting for the mood of the upcoming scene. If we add all the beautiful women, then that’s another plus. And if you are a woman, then I suppose you would find the men beautiful.
I think the reason people love The Hills so much is because as they’re watching it, they’re dreaming of having that lifestyle. But, some of the people on the show are more likeable than others. For instance, Spencer is not the most likeable person in the world. Justin is a distant second. Come to think of it, the only person I really like on the show is Audrina. I guess I only watch it for the drama between all of them. I love drama, as long as I’m not a part of it. The season is winding down and I’m looking forward to Tuesday so I can sit down, relax, and watch The Hills on my satellite tv. Now I just need to learn how to record satellite tv.

Do Not Advertise Your Trip
Guest blog post from Janet Monrad
We are a house full of internet junkies and the one thing I tell my kids is that when we are going away, do not post anything about it online. With all of my children on Facebook and all of their 400 friends, I do not want them telling the world that we are leaving to go on vacation and how long we will be there. Of course, they do not like this and all of their 400 friends are trustworthy (yeah, right!). So, I tell them they can post pictures and talk about their vacation when we get back.
Of course, we also have an ADT Security alarm we set before leaving and we do other things to make it look like someone is at the house. We have timers set to turn lights and a radio on. We also use a timer to turn the back porch lights on. This, we feel, may deter an intruder if they feel they might be seen by others.
We make sure all windows and doors are locked, even basement windows and doors. We make sure to put away any ladders that may help an intruder reach upper windows and any tools that may enable a break-in.

The Country Music Hall of Fame
Guest post written by Marsha Rodas
I recently had family in town that wanted to experience all that music city had to offer. I wanted to feel safe leaving my new home, so I had an alarm system installed and I’m glad I did. Since I have not lived in Nashville very long, there are many tourist sites that I have not been to. One of the sites that everyone wanted to go to was the country music hall of fame. Even for those that aren’t big fans of country music, this site had big appeal. After setting my home security alarm, me and my entire family headed to the museum. I didn’t know what to expect. I had spent a short amount of time looking at the website and knew that there were a few new and exciting displays. I had an aunt that was especially excited about getting to see all the relics of her favorite artists.
I was blown away by everything at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Even thought I am not a huge follower of country music, there were so many items that I recognized on display. There was also a huge amount of information that I found fascinating. It was the perfect way to kick off a weekend in Nashville, TN. The fee to get in was not much at all, and there was something of interest for everyone that was with our group. I was away from my home all day and I felt safe because of my newly installed alarm system.

Cupcakeasaurus CD Release Party With Mr. Tom Seley In Birmingham Michigan

For immediate release
‘Cupcakeasuarus!’ brings smart, imaginative rock ‘n roll to ‘tweens
Popular local musician, Mr. Seley, releases second album May 23

ROYAL OAK, Michigan.—Kids of all ages are invited to attend the CD release concert for Mr. Seley’s second album, “Cupcakeasaurus,” from 2–3 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at the Baldwin Public Library in Birmingham, Michigan.
The album, which features songs such as, Pluto is a Planet, Stone Age Kid and the title track, Cupcakeasaurus!, builds on Mr. Seley’s past success with Eat Your Books (And Read Your Vegetables) offering kids in the ‘tween years (8-12 years old) a rare mix of age-appropriate lyrics and rock that plays to their sensibilities.
“I wanted this album to be even more rock n’ roll,” says Tom (Mr.) Seley, who also teaches third- and fourth-graders at Birmingham Covington School. “More rock ‘n roll provides more opportunity for audience participation, including parents, and a way for my band, The Troublemakers, to show how fun it is to play music.”
On the surface, the songs are fun, catchy and dance-able. But Seley says he tries to write music that will grow with kids and provides an opportunity for them to use their imagination.
“I always try to respect their intelligence and level of humor. I also try to foster creativity through my songs,” he says. “Kids love to sing along and imagine themselves in the roll of the narrator, which is why I wrote Stone Age Kid. I thought it would be fun for kids to sing that song and imagine that they are a Stone Age Kid, suddenly transported into modern times.”
During the free concert, Mr. Seley and The Troublemakers will play his popular songs while kids and their families sing along.
Seley says he decided to write music specifically for 'tweens when he realized little quality music existed specifically for 8-to-12-year-olds. While younger kids enjoy Raffi, Barney and Sesame Street, once they reach age 7 or 8, they consider this music “baby-ish,” according to Seley.
“Popular music on the radio—with its boyfriend/girlfriend themes—is not yet developmentally appropriate for these kids,” he says. “Third and fourth-graders deserve great music too, so I set out to write songs for this age group.”
Seley, a longtime guitarist and singer/songwriter, has led a sing-along with the kids at Birmingham Covington School each week after school for the past five years. Staff members, administration and students at Birmingham Covington School encouraged him along the way.
Seley aspires to share his music with as wide an audience as possible and continue teaching his third- and fourth-grade multi-age classroom in Birmingham.
